The round table forums will be led by the region's top trainers in PRINCE2®, MSP®, P3O®, ITIL® and Change Management and consultants accredited in P3M3™. ITIL V3 Intermediate Training

(October 2008)

Per October 2008 APMG has released some of the ITIL V3 Intermediate Training Syllabi, encompassing the Capability and Lifecycle courses. The remainder of the syllabi and exams will be available from January 2009. The Capability courses are equivalent to the current ITIL V2 Clustered Practitioners in as that they look at the practical capabilities required for operating a particular ‘area’ of the lifecycle (for instance ‘Operational Support & Analysis’). Lifecycle courses focus more on management of a particular Lifecycle phase (Service Operations or Design for instance)

Lucid IT is already providing ITIL V3 courses (the Foundations, Foundations Bridge and Managers Bridge) but much like the roll-out of a new version of software, we (and our training partner ALC Training) have employed the strategy of waiting for the market response and ‘real life road test’ of these new courses.

In Q1 2009 (late February or March) Lucid IT will launch the Operational Support & Analysis (OSA) and Release, Control & Validation (RCV) Capability courses, quickly followed by the other Capability Courses (Service Offerings & Agreements -SOA- and Planning, Protection & Optimization -PPO-) effectively replacing the V2 Practitioner courses.

As per Lucid IT’s existing positioning of ‘value-add’ the new Capability Courses will have a practical approach to the new & extended ITIL V3 theory, providing experienced facilitators and workshops on how to implement the V3 processes (or migrate from V2). Due to the advanced nature of these courses (compared to the Foundations) they will be delivered in a 3-day intensive format with pre- and post-course exercises to prepare the candidates for the V3 Capability Exam.

We expect the ITIL V3 Lifecycle and Managing across the Lifecycle courses (the latter required to obtain the ITIL V3 Expert qualification) to be available in Q2.

Please note that existing V2 Practitioner qualifications may count towards the ITIL V3 Expert qualification, but that V2 Foundations may need to be ‘upgraded’. You can contact either Lucid IT or ALC Training for further questions on which training(path) is suitable for you.

Lucid IT joins forces with UXC Group

(February 2008)

Lucid IT has recently joined the UXC group of companies. This union with UXC provides a strategic platform from which Lucid will grow its consulting and education capabilities. Additionally, the IT solutions and service providers in UXC’s broad portfolio will be able to add significant value to their customers through our IT Service Management and Project Management capabilities. Lucid IT maintains its position as an independent trusted advisor through UXC’s proven approach to maintaining the independence of its many IT brands, some of whom openly compete in the marketplace.

“We have established a very large footprint in the IT Service Management market in recent years” said Hans Schiphof, Managing Director, “and we look forward to expanding further on this with the financial backing and established presence of the UXC Group. We are now ready to take on the next phase in our lifecycle and compete for larger IT Management transformation projects.”

David Favelle, Consulting Director, added “By harnessing and integrating IT management best practices we are leading the way in how IT consulting firms can engage with their customers. Customers embrace our approach because of the significant value we add to these best practices and the holistic way we co-create achievement of their improvement goals. Joining UXC will allow us to add value across the IT Service Lifecycle.  We expect this to accelerate our growth and contribute to the growth of our major partner, ALC Training”.

UXC highly values the Lucid IT Asia presence and will give its full support to Harold Petersen, Lucid IT Director, Asia, in his efforts to expand our consulting and education footprint in South East Asia..

Lucid IT will continue to trade under our own name and maintain the strong brand that our customers are so familiar with. We will continue to look after our customers and provide them with the independent advice they have grown to trust over the last six years.

We would also like to emphasise that our customers now have the choice to use Lucid IT in areas where we would previously not have been considered – the financial backing and the breadth of expertise across the UXC group will provide many new opportunities. At the same time, our company and our brand remain the same. Our customers can still enjoy the same “old” Lucid IT experience that they have grown accustomed to.

The Directors of Lucid IT would like to thank our customers, our partners and our colleagues for their trust in us and we look forward to continuing our exciting journey as a member of the UXC group of companies.

COBIT Course

(January 2008)

This 3-day course provides a foundation level understanding of the COBIT Governance Framework for IT. It covers the need for an IT control framework and how this is addressed by COBIT, and leads to the official COBIT Foundation Exam organized under the umbrella of ISACA.

The elements of the COBIT Framework are explained using practical examples and real world scenarios. You will learn about IT governance issues that are affecting organizations globally and how COBIT addresses the need for sound IT governance practices with a globally accepted IT control and governance framework.

The course will step through the components of the COBIT Framework, both at a general conceptual level, and then with an “in depth” analysis of two specific Control Processes. Questions and exercises based on the experience of the instructor and students will help you learn how to apply COBIT in practice. Additional subjects are COBIT Online, COBIT and other best practice methodologies and an overview of Val IT.
